Going for Gold – Tips for adding a little sparkle and glam to your decor

ALL ABOUT GOLD TRENDS IN HOME DECOR

What’s gold is new again, as gold accents are trending in interior design and in the fashion industry. We’re seeing gold, rose gold, copper, and bronze in interiors, and trendy yellow-gold accessories are all the rage in fashion. It’s no wonder; gold adds sparkle, warmth, sophistication, and class. It goes with anything and actually enhances other colours with its reflective and contrasting properties.

A touch here and there is chic and elegant, but don’t overdo it.  When incorporating gold in your interior decorating, adopt a less-is-more attitude.  Too much can have the opposite effect, making it appear pretentious or glitzy.

Embracing gold in your home is no longer just for Christmas. Here are some simple ideas for inviting the gold standard into your everyday:

  • Switch up your hardware with gold curtain rods and/or hooks. Gold-coloured pulls, knobs, and hinges will class up your cabinetry or furniture.
  • Choose a few throw pillows with glitter or gold touches to add a dash of class to your furnishings and fabrics. They don’t have to match; mix them up with gold as the common thread. A gold table runner or one with gold in the fabric, tassels, or piping along the edges works well too.
  • Lamps in gold or bronze reflect light and create sparkle, while a gold-hued lampshade bathes your room in a warm glow.
  • Wall art with gold, bronze or brass can anchor a room, providing a focal point and tying in all the other licks of gold throughout the room. It can also be a great conversation piece!

  • Inviting a little gold into your interior can be as easy as accessorizing with simple items such as a gold-rimmed bowl, strategically placed gold decorative balls, or a hassock in a gilded fabric. Place a plant in a gold, brass or copper planter and watch the greenery pop!

Incorporating some glam to your decorating doesn’t have to be expensive; it’ll just look that way. So go ahead and add a little twinkle here, a reflection there, and watch your room come alive!
