A new addition to the Chervin Family, Jody Shantz, began working as a showroom consultant at our Waterloo location this past February. After running her own daycare for 12 years, Jody decided to make a significant career change and pursue her interest in home décor and design.
Likely to be the first smiling face you will see upon entering the Waterloo showroom, Jody will be found effortlessly balancing many responsibilities as she supports Chervin Furniture & Design and Chervin Kitchen & Bath. In addition to administrative duties, Jody provides information to clients about the products on display and assists them in making purchases for their homes that they will love and be proud of for years to come!
The most rewarding part of my job is helping a client purchase a product that they will love and be proud of for a long time.

Being kind and gentle in nature, Jody loves building relationships and connecting with people. She enjoys getting to know people, what makes them happy, and finding opportunities to contribute to their happiness. When it comes to helping her clients, Jody sees value in learning about each individual’s lifestyles to fully understand what furniture will meet their needs. No matter how busy she is, Jody is always happy to answer questions about the furniture, clocks, and kitchens!
Jody loves it when her clients are as proud of their purchase as she is to sell it to them. Hearing that people are happy with their products and eager to tell their friends about Chervin fills her heart with joy.

In her spare time, Jody loves building relationships with her friends and family. The 66 children in her care over the years of her daycare operation hold a very special place in her heart. In her time off, Jody loves having the opportunity to connect with them and their families. When Jody is not busy pouring into other people, she enjoys trying new restaurants, baking, and cooking for family and friends. If you ever need a party planned, Jody is the one to call! Her creative mind will get straight to work coming up with amazing ideas to make your celebration extra special.
Jody has noticed that many clients are drawn to the Broadway sectional and Clarissa swivel chairs by Vogel when it comes to popular furniture styles. The Clarissa may not be the first chair a client sits down in, but once they do, they have a hard time wanting to leave it – she can’t blame them for that! Both of those products happen to be in her top 5 as well. Jody also loves the Oslo Sofa and Oxford recliner. She is drawn to the quality, comfort, and style of these Canadian-made pieces.
Working at Chervin Furniture & Design has given Jody more knowledge about what to look for when shopping for her own furniture, especially in regard to quality! She has gained a greater appreciation for the whole process of handcrafting custom furniture pieces and understanding that making a larger investment in furniture is always worth it for the increase in quality. Being a showroom consultant has heightened Jody’s admiration for Canadian-made brands, primarily locally sourced ones such as Vogel and Handstone.
One of Jody’s favourite things about working at Chervin is that everyone treats you like family. People are supportive of one another and work together to provide extraordinary service to each client that walks through the doors. Chervin’s motto of the golden rule, “do to others as you would have them do to you” is something that resonates with Jody as she sees it actively modeled in relationships with clients and coworkers.
