2022 Furniture Trends

As we enter 2022, we want you to know what’s trending in all things’ furniture.

It is always exciting to see what trendsstyles, shapesand colours evolve throughout the year.

With the way the world has changed, it is no news that we have had to adapt to changes in our lives. The most common adjustment for most has been trying to maintain worklife balance while working from home.

Modern tables with multiple materials

Those who work from home want a multi-functional space that is convenient for them to switch between relaxing and focusing. In designing a multi-functional space, there are lots of opportunities to think about purchasing furniture styles that add efficiency to our lives. This brings us to our first furniture trend of 2022.

Dual Purpose Furniture

On the trending topic of working from home and finding that worklife balance, why not give yourself the option of working from the comfort of your sofa? Coffee tables that come equipped with a lift top give you the ability to work efficientlyproviding you with a stable work desk for your laptop and work essentials, allowing you to be comfortable and have a change of scenery while working.

Sustainable & Locally Made Furniture

We love this trend! Having knowledge of how furniture is made and where it comes from is essential to the shopping process. Shopping locally and supporting local businesses is a convenient way to find this information. Using sustainable resources and recycled goods to handcraft furniture is on the rise, especially with concerns of our population’s eco-footprint getting worse daily. Not only is it more appealing to read that the furniture you are interested in purchasing is sustainably made but that it is also responsibly sourcedmeaning that environmental concerns are being put in place while crafting that furniture. Plus purchasing local means fewer import fees and we see that as win!

Modern Furniture

We are seeing this design choice increasingly more in every part of the home. From styling kitchens to bedrooms and our personal favourite, living rooms, the trend of placing modern furniture pieces in your home is not going away anytime soon. Particularlywe are seeing a lot of marble, metal, and wood that give your space a modern touch. Find one piece that incorporates it all or bring in a variety of natural textures through different furniture pieces.

Curved Furniture

Curved furniture pieces are back in full swing. These consist of coffee tables, sofas, chairs with curved seats and back cushions, poufs, and lamps. The curved furniture trend first appeared in the ’60s and ’70s but is now coming back in style thanks to the popularity of the mid-century modern look.

Geometric Shapes

These unique looking shapes are a design style that keeps popping up in different pieces of furniture. We have seen this pattern appear in fabric on sofas and chairs, lightingtables, and shelves. The natural textures associated with geometric shapes are often metal and wood. This style of design can range from a modern to contemporary look in some cases.

Natural Textures

Natural textures. Need we say more? Materials that give off a natural look and feel are wood, rattan, and bamboo. These natural textures are all seen added to sofas and chairs, but most often seen in coffee and side tablesMetal, stone, and marble act as accents to furniture giving it an elegant and luxurious feel. We often see marble and stone being the tops of tables, and metal is used as exposed inlay or to make up the base and legs of the furniture piece.

We love seeing how trends in our market change yearly depending on what is happening in the world around us. From how the furniture is crafted to the materials they consist of, and the shapes they form, we are looking forward to seeing how these design trends succeed in 2022.
