MEET Tracey – friendly, creative, and a big fan of family

With almost 15 years’ experience in furniture sales, Tracey Ryan joins the Chervin Furniture family as a skilled, passionate, and engaging member of our Sales team! Tracey wasn’t one who set out to work in furniture sales – but after completing a degree in Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University, the opportunity arose for Tracey to join the Sales team at a local furniture showroom and the design bug bit. Ever since then, Tracey has loved exploring new styles, appreciating design in the most obvious and minute details, and most of all, helping families craft homes and rooms that truly speak to who they are and what they love about their life. She loves design and customization and all the creativity involved in truly tailoring furniture, decor, and layouts to suit the homeowners in question. As a mom of four herself, Tracey has a special, personal understanding of the beautiful chaos of family life, and puts this expertise to good use when helping other parents (and even grandparents!) plan the look, style, and function of their main living spaces.

In her downtime, Tracey also loves refinishing old furniture that is either brought to her by friends and family, or that she finds in local thrift stores and antique markets. It’s therapeutic and rewarding to see beautiful old pieces brought to life again with a bit of milk paint or fusion mineral paint and a healthy dose of love and creativity. Most recently, Tracey refinished her own bedroom set – after 15 years of the same look, she now gets to enjoy a fresh style and colour thanks to buying quality furniture up front, and putting in some extra hours to refresh it down the road (yes, this may have been a #COVIDProject).

Recently, Tracey has been noticing a lot of clients showing interest in reclining furniture, as well as sectionals (and yes, reclining sectionals are definitely an option, too!). Especially in a year with as many ups and downs and as much time spent at home as this one, there is something extra special about stretching out and putting your feet up at the end of a long day. Interestingly, while many of our clients fall in love with the streamlined look of our modern and Scandinavian models, most end up choosing a comfier, poufier model in the end – one with plush cushions, a relaxed sit, and an overall welcoming vibe.

Tracey, too, is a fan of Scandinavian design, her current favourite in the showroom being Vogel’s Oxford recliner. The combination of the dramatic wooden legs with the distinguished leather cover is so stunning and mature. Oxford is the chair she’s sitting on in the pictures in this post!

We’re so grateful to have Tracey on our team, and we were touched when she shared that right from day one she has felt like part of the family. Chervin Furniture isn’t just a showroom or a workplace – it’s a team that operates like family, supporting individuals and families across Ontario with making home feel fresh and inviting. Tracey says her first time in the showroom she noticed it felt calming, warm, and comforting, and that working with the team has been virtually stress-free.

Working at Chervin has also made Tracey a big fan of some new-to-her, ultra-custom brands. Vogel, our sister company that handcrafts custom upholstered furniture in Toronto, and Handstone, a Mennonite company that handcrafts custom solid wood furniture in Wallenstein, are versatile, quality, local brands that Tracey loves for their durability and style.
