Our clients always felt their house was big enough, but the biggest question was, “How do we make this space livable?”. Our clients and their family have always enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Their goal was to create several inviting entertaining spaces throughout their home to share with others.
The project started in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, causing delays within the furniture industry. The clients were patient, and despite some of the delays, we were able to fulfill our client’s vision and complete the project on time.
We didn’t have access to the client’s blueprints, and a few changes happened mid-renovation that affected our original furniture layouts. We worked around these changes and created a small vignette in that area.

Our clients wanted to create an open and inviting space that worked for their lifestyle. Their home is often used for entertaining, but the upstairs living room is where their family will hang out together in the morning. This space needed to be cozy and welcoming, and placing the chaise by the window, allows you to sit with your feet up while drinking your morning coffee to reflect on an upcoming day.
We created a concept to reflect our clients’ need to have a welcoming space for entertaining guests while also being functional for their family during the week.
We considered how the colours and textures would make guests feel when they enter the space. Choosing a mix of warm wood tones, leathers, and fabrics, we created a beautiful contrast of textures and materials, reflecting the clients’ vision.

When the clients’ approached us, their vision was to put the sofa by the patio doors. After our team reviewed the space, we recommended moving the seating area closer to the wall unit, which would create the main walking and allow for a better flow of conversation when hosting.
Keeping in mind the clients’ family and their goal to create an entertaining space for all ages, we recommended leather for the sofa as it will be durable and easy to clean. In addition to choosing durable materials, the product selections were Canadian-made and locally handcrafted.
